Children & Young People
Parents and care givers may seek out counselling for their child for a range of reasons including support and skill building around emotional regulation, low mood and anxiety management.
Kate works with the child/adolescent to set achievable and realistic therapeutic goals. At Parachute Therapy and Wellbeing we offer individual counselling for children aged from 4 years.
Please note: Kate does not see children and young people where there is significant parental conflict and/or where there are upcoming or ongoing Family Court matters.
Animal Assisted Therapy
Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is the use of an animal to provide comfort, emotional support, and therapeutic care to clients. It has been shown to increase client engagement, assist with emotional regulation and self-awareness, as well as reducing feelings of stress and anxiety in session.
Moose the border collie is a Certified Therapy Dog. His role is to provide unconditional love and support to clients by making counselling less daunting and more engaging. Outside of the office he loves going on long bushwalks and playing frisbee.
Walk and Talk Therapy
Sometimes walking in nature is a more comfortable space for therapeutic work.
Kate and Moose offer walk and talk sessions which provide a more relaxed opportunity to connect combined with the many benefits of movement and being outdoors.
Moose the border collie is a Certified Therapy Dog.
Parachute Therapy and Wellbeing also offers parenting support. Of all the roles we have in life, parenting is often the hardest and the most rewarding. Sometimes the challenges outweigh the rewards which can present an opportunity to seek additional support. This offers a chance to reflect and to learn new approaches to strengthen the bonds within your family.
